Do filters and edited photos make me feel worse about myself?
For most people, yes — comparison against filtered images reliably lowers self-esteem. The images are also not a realistic target, because they are edited, lit, filtered, posed and often de-aged. Curating your feed by following people who look like you actually are is a small intervention with a real effect.
What this does and does not tell you
This is general information, not a diagnosis. Only a clinician can examine you, take your history and run tests. The same symptom has different causes in different people.
If something is sudden, severe, or getting worse quickly, get medical advice rather than reading on.
