About

Growing, Clearly

A free health education site for puberty, bodies and growing up — built so that the question someone is too embarrassed to ask out loud still gets a good answer.

What this is

A health education platform covering 24 topics, 40 articles and 47 short answers, written for readers roughly aged 10 to 22.

The name is the point. Growing up is confusing. Bodies change on their own schedule, nobody explains why, and the explanations you can find are either written for a completely different person or written to sell you something. This site exists to be the boring, non-judgemental middle option.

Who it is for

  • Young people who want to understand what is happening to them.
  • Parents, carers, teachers and youth workers supporting a young person.
  • Anyone who has ever googled a symptom at two in the morning and got worse.

Who it is not for

This is the most important section on the page.

  • It is not a diagnostic service. Nothing here can tell you what you have.
  • It is not a substitute for a clinician who can examine you, take your history and run tests.
  • It is not an emergency service. If you need help now, contact your local emergency number.
  • It is not a replacement for local healthcare guidance, which varies by country and by system.

How it is funded

It is not. There is no advertising, no sponsorship, no affiliate links, and no product recommendations of any kind. This is a deliberate constraint: the moment a site takes money from a cream manufacturer, its advice about that cream is worth less to everyone.

Privacy

No account, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party scripts. Searches run in your browser against content already in the page, so your questions have nowhere to go. The full detail is on the privacy page.

What is not finished

We would rather list this than let you find out by hitting a dead end.

  • No article has yet been reviewed by a qualified clinician. They are editorial drafts and say so. The editorial policy sets out exactly what review each area needs.
  • The safety-routing rules are not yet signed off by a clinician. They work and are tested, and every notice says so. The outstanding work is listed on the safety page.
  • Some topics have only a few articles. Categories that are not written yet say so rather than showing an empty grid or a thin placeholder.
  • No independent accessibility audit has been carried out yet.
